Using Canesten Duo

Canesten Duo is one of the most popular thrush products on the market. However it's not really a single product but is a combination of products packaged together.

Most people when they have a yeast infection outbreak want to kill off the yeasts that are causing the irritation and do something about the red hot itchy feeling that's so uncomfortable and that's why the pack contains one Canesten Oral Capsule and one 10g tube of Canesten Thrush Cream 2%. The capsule will get rid of the overgrowth of yeast and the cream will reduce the pain. It is suitable for both male and female thrush.

The first thing you should do after opening your pack of Canesten Duo is to read the information to ensure it's suitable for you to use. There are a couple of specific medications that you may be taking which shouldn't be used with Canesten so do check. Also don't use it if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

Then you should take the capsule. You need to swallow it whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food so basically you can take it anytime of the day. And that's it. You should start to notice a difference in your symptoms within 24 hours.

The next thing you'll want to do after taking the capsule is apply the cream externally. It doesn't need to be applied thickly, just make sure you apply it all over the inflamed area and a little beyond. You will probably need to reapply it during the day but no more than 2 or 3 times. My personal preference is to continue using the cream for 24 hours after all symptoms have gone.

Some people seem to find that by using Canesten Duo the thrush has totally disappeared within 2 to 3 days but it could take up to a week in women and two weeks in men. If the symptoms continue don't try another pack but see a doctor instead as you've probably got a bacterial infection instead which will need treatment with antibiotics.
